Add more stripper to soften up the finish again but only wait five minutes before trying to scrape.
Pour the mineral spirits over the stripped area and use the steel wool to wipe away any remaining stripper residue be sure to follow the wood grain. Soap-like compounds can form on oil primers in as little as two weeks. Start sanding gently with the paper alone.
Any paint stripper is going to take it back past the paint i would recommend a manual approach using a filler knife paint scraper or scotch pad to. Mix these two liquids together in equal proportions. Do not use the scraper like a chisel and try to chip the finish off.
Dont let the primer sit more than a few weeks before painting. The sanding will make the wood splotchy and uneven. After stripping the wood do not sand it.
